  1. Surveillance camera at Shelly beach

The recent poaching of Gropers at Cabbage Tree Bay poses a significant risk to the iconic and protected groper population there, not to mention the risk of poaching to Weedy Sea dragons in the same area. Given the significant cash income Manly council secures from parking enforcement it is shameful that they have not yet made any such effort to protect these natural assets given the existing significant surveillance infrastructure already installed on the Corso.

  2. What's Happening at Grahams Reserve? First the dog-walkers and then the dog owners?

Is Grahams being taken over by Manly Warringah District Cricket Club? When Manly Oval car park is under construction the club is moving to Grahams. What is going to happen to the dogs. Grahams is the only safe, fully fenced off-leash dog park in Manly.

  5. Trees on the East Esplanade Reserve

Background – Compared to West Esplanade the trees on East Esplanade Reserve are looking very tired right from the Wharf to the Manly Cove Motor Yacht Club shed. Many Norfolk Island Pines are missing, dying or dead. There are also several Cook Island Pines that are very dense and twisted and spoil the views. The large Morton Bay Fig at the bottom of Osbourne Road is mature and the Port Jackson Fig between it and the Motor Yacht Club is very decayed.

Proposal – About fourteen new Norfolk Island Pines should be planted on the East Esplanade between Wentworth and…

  6. Protecting Sporting Facilities in Manly

One of the great things about Australia and Manly area is generally very good for sporting facilities. However due to the increasing cost of land, sporting facilities, especially those not owned by the council are under threat, as there is greater profit from land development. For example in the 4 or 5 years I have been here in tennis courts have been developed which where at North Curl Curl and last year Court Sports (Deewhy), which had 12 tennis courts, 8 squash courts and volley ball courts looked as if it may well be developed. (these are in Warringah, but…

  7. Alcohol consumption in East Boulevarde park

It seems lots of people bring alcoholic beverages to this grassed area to consume when it is zoned as an alcohol-free area. Most of the time this is fine. . but occasionally you see significant amounts of alcohol being consumed(with obvious impact). If there is a rule. . it should be policed.
Otherwise scrap the rule and assume people will drink responsibly.
Turning a blind eye doesn't seem responsible!

  8. Educate Manly

Teach those who have never traveled abroad or who currently swim in money that there is more to life than upgrading gardens and pools, or altering speed humps.. Most people in Manly focus on minute flaws in their luxury lifestyle but I propose we help these folk learn just how much more other people need our time and money.

  9. zebra crossing - paint the road in white before it is painted in red...

I think we miss a lot of zebra crossing in Manly. first it would allow our kids to cross the streets safely, second it would highly reduce the speed of so many cars. I am thinking about the flat before the eastern hill in particular, on the east esplanade, on darley road, on victoria parade, on ashburner street...if you walk down the hill, there is no way you can safely cross streets and get to manly CBD safely. it is only painting the road, why wait? why no one seems to be bothered? do we have to wait for our…

  10. Extend the Corso no car area to some more streets.

I saw a city in California on TV recently that had a large planned no car area and it looked good.

  11. Little manly beach reserve

Rather than spending precious Council cash on the houses at Little Manly when there is already so much open space in that area, the properties should be developed and sold off. By Council controlling the development the right balance can be struck between capitalising on the location and not being overbearing. Then the money can be used to pursue some of the other great ideas like making parking easier and cheaper in the CBD.

  12. beach parking discrimination against renters

Would love the GoodforManly to investigate on behalf of renters in the new Northern Beaches Council area. Just went to enquire at council office regarding renewing my beach parking sticker only to be told that as I am a renter, I will have to pay $200 to obtain one. Stickers are now sent to owners who are under no obligation to pass them on to tenants. Wonder how many of these free stickers will be sold on? I hope anyone standing for council in future will be aware that out of area owners don't vote, renters living on the beachfront…

  13. A conservatorium of music / performing arts centre

Currently, only 1.96% of Sydney Youth Orchestra members come from the Northern Beaches. That's the lowest of any region in Sydney. In fact more SYO members come from country NSW than the Northern Beaches. We need to start supporting the arts so that our kids don't continue to miss out. See: http://nbcon.wordpress.com/

  14. Something needs to be done about the number shopping trolleys abandoned in Manly streets. Coles should be held accountable

Coles Peninsular should have same rule as the Coles Corso Trolleys should only be permitted to be taken to Peninsular Carpark but not out of store onto street We also need to go back to coin operated shopping trolleys. It makes people more accountable

  15. Christmas Carols should be held on Manly Oval. Manly Council is ruining traffic and parking in Manly.

Christmas Carols should be held on Manly Oval. It is the appropriate setting for this event, family friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic. Why change such a great community event. In addition, why is Manly Council deliberately making changes to traffic & parking conditions in Manly. The only reason appears to be to make the traffic congestion so bad and limit the supply of car parking spaces, that they force people into the conclusion that a massive car park is required under Manly Oval. Given their mismanagement of other large infrastructure projects, are there any guarantees that they will be…

  16. Parking permit with variable date

Manly area parking permits are provided with a fixed date (end of March each year) meaning we all come in to renew at the same time. This is neither efficient nor convenient for those that need to acquire a permit at any time other than March each year.

  17. Lack of information to the Rate Payers

I am concerned that Manly Council treats the ratepayers like idiots. Our elected reps are proposing to spend huge money on various ideas but we are not allowed to see any of the important data. The Pool debacle is a case in point. The Council stated that their cost estimate of $15m would be covered by a "low" interest govt. loan. Apparently, the quotes range upwards from $26m, but this gross miscalculation is not being shared with us. Based on their lack of ability, It scares me to think what the Oval debacle will blow out to. How do we demand…

  18. Stop hard paving

Notice the nicest section off the corso is the part with cars .NOT because off the traffic but because off the central green planting.
Manly needs more garden beds but better maintained than manlys
    parks which are weed ridden

  19. Tide marker at the Jump Rock

In regards to the Jump Rock - yes, please remove the fence and try making it safer.
Instead of your suggestion of requiring an app to check the tide, how about simply adding a red-amber-green "tide marker" sign and/or paint on the rock face, so that when the red shows (i.e. the red colour is not submerged) it's too shallow to jump, and if only the green is visible it is ok. Or something along those lines.
