  1. What's Happening at Grahams Reserve? First the dog-walkers and then the dog owners?

Is Grahams being taken over by Manly Warringah District Cricket Club? When Manly Oval car park is under construction the club is moving to Grahams. What is going to happen to the dogs. Grahams is the only safe, fully fenced off-leash dog park in Manly.

  2. Something needs to be done about the number shopping trolleys abandoned in Manly streets. Coles should be held accountable

Coles Peninsular should have same rule as the Coles Corso Trolleys should only be permitted to be taken to Peninsular Carpark but not out of store onto street We also need to go back to coin operated shopping trolleys. It makes people more accountable

  3. RESTRICTED PARKING IN WEST STREET

Finding a parking space along West Street between White Street and Sydney Road is a real pain in the neck.

I suppose I coul be wrong but I think it's mostly weekday commuters causing the issue.

Can the council address this issue by restricting parking in some way?

    Thank you.

  4. Lack of information to the Rate Payers

I am concerned that Manly Council treats the ratepayers like idiots. Our elected reps are proposing to spend huge money on various ideas but we are not allowed to see any of the important data. The Pool debacle is a case in point. The Council stated that their cost estimate of $15m would be covered by a "low" interest govt. loan. Apparently, the quotes range upwards from $26m, but this gross miscalculation is not being shared with us. Based on their lack of ability, It scares me to think what the Oval debacle will blow out to. How do we demand…

  5. Affordable housing: Affordable for whom?

Between the idea and the reality, between the policy and the developer falls... the failings of the previous Labour government? Developers of boarding houses love to cut and past from AHSEPP when submitting DAs, specifically that boarding houses are for, amongst others, key workers like our teachers, nurses, and police officers who cannot otherwise afford to live in the communities they service. A worthy sentiment--the 'idea'--we should all support. But what of the reality? Who lives in these developments really? Maximum tariffs only apply to developments seeking land tax exemption. In 2013 that was $368 for a double and $261…

  6. Ok so NO to develop under the oval but what are the alternatives?

Don't agree with the argument that this is to far away from the Manly Cbd or isn't good for local business. Because visitors only have to cross one road and walk past local businesses to the beach. Plus with 3 hour parking for locals and a new water park where will visitors park?

  7. A conservatorium of music / performing arts centre

Currently, only 1.96% of Sydney Youth Orchestra members come from the Northern Beaches. That's the lowest of any region in Sydney. In fact more SYO members come from country NSW than the Northern Beaches. We need to start supporting the arts so that our kids don't continue to miss out. See: http://nbcon.wordpress.com/

  8. Take the jack boots off the rangers...They aren't police. They should not dress, nor act like police.

Take the jack boots off the rangers...They aren't police. They should not dress, nor act like police.

Heavy handed rangers are are such a detriment to the community of Manly at the moment. There is a poor attitude among the rangers, and their behaviour is more and more authoritarian, and less valuable members of the community. Take the army boots away, and set a new tone for service and community, not enforcement and monitoring.

  9. Surveillance camera at Shelly beach

The recent poaching of Gropers at Cabbage Tree Bay poses a significant risk to the iconic and protected groper population there, not to mention the risk of poaching to Weedy Sea dragons in the same area. Given the significant cash income Manly council secures from parking enforcement it is shameful that they have not yet made any such effort to protect these natural assets given the existing significant surveillance infrastructure already installed on the Corso.

  11. Parking permit with variable date

Manly area parking permits are provided with a fixed date (end of March each year) meaning we all come in to renew at the same time. This is neither efficient nor convenient for those that need to acquire a permit at any time other than March each year.

  12. An exercise area on the Manly to the Spit walk

The Bondi to Bronte walkway has exercise equipment an intervals along the way (chin up bars, sit up benches and rings). This equipment gets heaps of use. Adding such equipment to the Spit to Manly walk would make great use of space (particularly near the Fairlight Pool) and promote healthy living at a low cost.

  13. Educate Manly

Teach those who have never traveled abroad or who currently swim in money that there is more to life than upgrading gardens and pools, or altering speed humps.. Most people in Manly focus on minute flaws in their luxury lifestyle but I propose we help these folk learn just how much more other people need our time and money.

  14. Extend the Corso no car area to some more streets.

I saw a city in California on TV recently that had a large planned no car area and it looked good.

  15. Little manly beach reserve

Rather than spending precious Council cash on the houses at Little Manly when there is already so much open space in that area, the properties should be developed and sold off. By Council controlling the development the right balance can be struck between capitalising on the location and not being overbearing. Then the money can be used to pursue some of the other great ideas like making parking easier and cheaper in the CBD.

  18. Turn the top of Manly's Council Parking in Whistler street into a community garden :-)

Sunflowers growing from the ugly building will brighten the sky and the heart of Manly. We need more public spaces beautified with greenery. Lots of ideas for vertical gardens and planter boxes could be explored!

  19. Free bikes to use in Manly

Manly is such a lovely recreational area and is especially bike friendly. If we could have a bike-sharing system in the same way they have them in Melbourne and Brisbane. Lets bring bike-sharing to Sydney and start it in Manly.:
