Manly Council needs to have the Christmas Carol night at the Oval, not the Corso as currently planned.!

Please email Council and sign the petition. The change is not family friendly and will cost us ratepayers buckets more than holding at the Oval where 6,000+ have enjoyed the event. Imagine sitting on concrete trying to enjoy a picnic in front of the Steyne Hotel... Not a great idea!!

Thanks for putting up the change.org petition. I agree this is a terrible idea. Unfortunately the Council is committed to the Corso location this year but let's work to ensure we get our old venue back for next year.

After attempts to get a satisfactory answer from Council as to why they would move the Carols from the Oval to the Corso failed, I contacted the Manly Daily. They have run the story over two days including a front page "Carols by publight" 19/11, and 21/11 p9. There is another article appearing tomorrow (24/11). The reasons so far given by Council to the Daily journalist are that they wanted to 'refresh' the event and they don't want to have to move cricket the next day. The Carols were always on a Thursday night, so moving to a Friday night has created one very flimsy excuse. As for a 'refresh', this a much anticipated annual event that many families (including my own) have attended for many years. Why change it? Sign the petition and email Council directly!
