When I arrived in Manly in 1963 there were at least 3 of the 5 cinemas still in operation . One on the oceanfront, one in Belgrave st, and one opposite the wharf .The latest cinema ,sadly missed, which was giving the residents of Manly an opportunity to walk along one of the most amazingly beautiful esplanades to see a production from the National Theatre , or an opera direct from The Met or La Scala,.Does life get any better than this? I suspect the owner is waiting for times to sadly change and give him/her the opportunity to build highrise on such a prime site. A sad state of affairs which should be opposed on all fronts.
